My Talk From Playful in October

Here’s the talk I did at Playful on 31.10.08. It’s basically about the changing nature of scores in games and how scores are starting to infect everything.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get it up online, but I had to get the video off the guys, and then it turned out to have been shot from a strange angle where you’ve got no idea what’s going on. So I did a bit of jiggery-pokery and combined the video with the Keynote presentation and synched it up as best I could. And the audio is a bit muffled, but hopefully you can make out what’s going on…

I’m in Istanbul


This photo isn’t supposed to represent Istanbul. It looks like a lovely city from what I’ve seen, it’s just something I can see out of my hotel window and I really liked it. For some reason I’m a big fan of diggers knocking the crap out of things whilst standing on top of them. (I’m sure an analyst would have a field day).

Anyway I’m here to talk at the Digital Age conference. I’m talking about Big Ideas this afternoon, and quite looking forward to it.

I’ve been debating whether or not to share this picture for a day or two. But I’ve decided that it’d be rude not to. When I got sent it I laughed out loud for a while. Then I thought. Oh crap, what have I / they done…

I’m on my way to LA to take part in the Webby Connect Conference and I’m very much looking forward to it. If you’re in the area or going to the conference drop me a line…

Unfortunately, this means that I won’t be able to go to the Glug event on Thursday Night. I’ve never actually been to one yet, and it’s their 7th time. But I like the guys who run it, and I like their strapline: “More Notworking then Networking”.

Piers is putting on one of his excellent PSFK events in Singapore. If you’re in the area. Or can blag a trip I’d highly recommend it. The London one I went to was great, and the content from the others is really spot-on too.

He is a friend, but they are genuinely good and well-priced for what you get.
