257 Charts of Goodness

Post Digital Marketing 2009

Helge lays down a seriously comprehensive overview of digital marketing (or post-digital marketing) – at 257 slides it’s long. But there’s something in there for every occasion. It’s when I see things like this that I realise there are people out there with brains that are almost too big.

Maybe it’s the medium of presentations, or maybe it’s because it’s Sunday, or maybe because I’m not smart enough, but it left my head in a bit of a spin.

His blog continues that trend: http://www.180360720.no/ go there and subscribe to his feed. At first I thought he had a silly URL, but it’s not, it was me being stupid 180 / 360 /720 makes total sense.

And if you look across all his Slideshare presentations you’ll find someone overflowing with plannery goodness AND has a decent eye for making his charts look dirt-hot too.

  1. There’s a lot of nonsense in there though. I’m tired of people claiming there isn’t a future for display advertising. It will always be a big part of what marketers and advertisers do. So long as people have to wait on tube platforms, wait for buses or walk from one place to another, there will be display media to try and tell us things people think we want to know.

Why do people feel the need to be so dramatic when it comes to new marketing things? All these pithy and blithe statements are just intended to intimidate, I’m sure of it.

  2. I found much of this incomprehensible. I always reckon about 30 slides is the maximum you want (unless you present like Lawrence Lessig.) Looked nice though.

  3. Distill. Distill Distill.

My head hurts. I got to slide 20.

I’m annoyed, as I’m sure there is good stuff here. Just that it’s utterly inaccessible.

    Shame.
